Syd cruises back onto the scene with her new single, “Fast Car.”
With an electric essence of the 1980s, Syd doesn’t mind getting some front and back seat loving and she doesn’t care who sees.
She sings on the first verse, “Kiss me like you mean it now / Right here in the front seat / Don’t care that they’re beepin’ now / Hope they’re all watchin’ / Help me take my seatbelt off / And put it in park, babe / We gon’ piss some people off / But right now that’s where we belong / Right here in your fast car.”
In a statement, Syd shared, “I wanted to make something for the gay Black girls. I want them to see themselves in this and in me.”
The video is a sultry depiction of the song as Syd and her leading lady spend quality time. Posted up in their jeep, the two take a nature-packed trip filled with much PDA.
The groovy track trails her last single “Missing Out,” released in February. She shared in May that her new album, speculated to be titled Broken Hearts Club, is almost done. Her debut album, Fin, was released in 2017.
