On Thru My Window, the debut album from Your Grandparents, the genre-bending trio leave the blinds up and curtains peeled back to gives fans a bird’s eye view of their story of new love.
Over the course of 10 tracks, which includes early tracks such as “Sunlight” and “So Damn Fly,” Your Grandparents mix blaring horns, earthy drums, and dreary piano notes with their nearly breathless rhymes and lean alt-R&B vocals to create endless jams.
The dreamy vibe, “Comfortable,” finds the vocalists DaCosta and Jean Carter opening their home to a wandering interest who needs to escape her norm. It’s a wild evening in the “Red Room,” where the fellas pour it up and get hot and close with a bad girl.
On “Digest,” the cool groove, the group is hoping their women are placid about their recent whereabouts, but to no avail, it’s not that easy for the ladies to brush aside. Instead, back and forth is necessary, at least for them, not Your Grandparents, who are unmoved by the antics.
Regarding the new album, Your Grandparents said, “Thru My Window is an alternative commentary on love in early adulthood. Illustrated through the joint perspective of Your Grandparents, the narrative portrays the origins of a budding relationship and its potential complexities.”
This November, Your Grandparents will play the Day N Vegas Festival. The three-day concert experience marks the band’s festival debut. Get tickets and additional details here.
