After much teasing and anticipation, R&B duo Bathe (composed of Devin Hobdy and Corey Smith-West) has released their new EP Bicoastal.
Across a nine-track set, the Brooklyn, New York duo takes us safely into the fall season with relaxed moods and romantic sounds. Songs like “Sundress” and “Pull Up” play into the modern-day vibes of courting, while “Jetlagged” and “Bolero” are pleasant mood-based tributes.
The duo’s producer, Corey, shared his thoughts on the new EP. “Most creative folks we’ve met in New York have this dream of being Bicoastal; having a house on both coasts and being able to enjoy the fruits of LA and NYC.
The album started as an exploration of that concept, but over the course of the pandemic, it ended up being more about seeking solace internally rather than externally. Writing these songs taught us there’s more to feeling free than just traveling.”
Devin, the vocalist, added, “We started the project by writing about the exhilaration you feel at takeoff and the anxieties you pretend to leave on the tarmac. But quarantine molded it into our personal and still unresolved search for home in the things we’ve always known.”
Bicoastal follows Bathe’s 2019 project, I’ll Miss You.
