BJ the Chicago Kid has done a hard reset and resumed his BJ Wednesdays, a weekly music series he previously held this summer. “Smooth” is the first offering in the fall edition of the series and refers to an old-school remix from another Chi-Town crooner in its opening line.
Dripping sweat from his forehead, BJ is aroused in the company of a satiny-skinned beauty he’s learned about through word of mouth. His goal here on this steel guitar production is to figure out how they can get more acquainted. His argument is quite convincing.
BJ’s most recent release, 4 AM, came out in July, featuring tracks from the summer installment of BJ Wednesdays, including his take on The-Dream’s “Fancy” and “Make You Feel Good” with Lucky Daye.
He dived into the recording process of the EP and his journey to independent status after parting ways with Motown Records in a profile with Rated R&B. He also promised in the same interview a funnel of music, already delivering on his word with songs like “Smooth.”
Recently, BJ joined forces with KIRBY for her latest album Sis. He Wasn’t the One.
