Eric Bellinger has gone acoustic for a new live performance of “What About Us” from his latest album New Light.
“I wanted to give y’all some new fresh energy visually to match the nostalgic vibes sonically,” said Bellinger.
In the clip, notably missing Sevyn Streeter, who appears on the original track, Bellinger carries the song’s stripped-down rendition solo staged in a bedroom adorned with gold lighting and backed by a guitarist.
While Streeter might be absent from this performance, she starred in the official music video and was mentioned in his conversation with Rated R&B. He spoke about connecting with her for a third collaboration.
Bellinger said, “[She’s] my friend and my family. We grew up in this music together, from writing for artists and releasing projects [and] supporting each other. Now people can see real, genuine chemistry.”
New Light is Bellinger’s first proper studio album and features additional appearances from Brandy, Kierra Sheard-Kelly, Teedra Moses, and others. Other singles include “Shine On The World,” “Only Fan,” and “Go Get It.”
In other news, Bellinger will be a part of The CW’s Taye Diggs-executive produced Black Pack variety specials. Ne-Yo is cast alongside a slew of others such as Streeter, Tank and Jordin Sparks, to name a few.
