Jazmine Sullivan told Rated R&B last month she had features in the works, and she didn’t keep us waiting too long for them either. The comeback diva of 2021 has teamed with Curtis Harding for a new duet titled “Our Love” from the Netflix animated fantasy series Arcane.
Penned by Harding and Samuel Cohen, the track places Sullivan and Harding in a familiar and comfortable setting that many R&B fans hold dear to their hearts. Their convincing performance here about undying love and devotion is what keeps vintage R&B in conversation.
At the start of the year, Sullivan released her most recent project Heaux Tales. A success with critics and fans, the 14-song set put Sullivan on tracks with the new wave of generational artists, including H.E.R., Ari Lennox, and Anderson .Paak. The project also features the gold-selling “Pick Up Your Feelings,” her first chart-topper on R&B radio and the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart.
Speaking on her big break in an interview with Rated R&B, Sullivan shared, “Everything happens when it’s supposed to happen. I feel like this is a good time in my life for everything that’s happening. I’m able to handle it in a way that I might not have been able to handle before.”
She continued, “I don’t have any regrets about life not going where I expected it to go earlier on. I feel happy and satisfied with the love [and] the attention that I’m getting.”
Sullivan and her Heaux Tales era scored six nominations at this year’s 2021 Soul Train Awards and three nods at the 2021 American Music Awards.
