It’s a brand new album day for Alicia Keys fans. KEYS, the new double-disc album from the legendary artist, has arrived more than a year following 2020’s beloved ALICIA.
Composed of an Originals side (stripped-down) and the Unlocked side (remixed), KEYS contains 26 magical tracks, including the previously shared “LALA (Unlocked)” featuring Swae Lee,” “Best Of Me (Originals)” and “Best Of Me (Unlocked).”
A familiar track, “Is It Insane,” recorded during studio sessions for The Diary of Alicia Keys, made an official appearance. Keys tells Rated R&B after attempting to make it fit on previous albums, it finally made sense for this body of work.
“It fits as if it has been the missing piece of the entire album,” Keys declared to Rated R&B’s Keithan Samuels. “It was meant for this album. Sometimes songs are just waiting for their time. And now this one has found its time.”
Additional guests from KEYS include Lucky Daye, Khalid, Pusha T, Lil’ Wayne, and Brandi Carlile.
Keys gained two recent Grammy nominations for ALICIA, including Best Immersive Audio Album and Song of the Year (“A Beautiful Noise” featuring Brandi Carlile).
“It’s a powerful statement of how you can create the change that you want to see,” Keys told Rated R&B about her Song of the Year nod. “I love that song because it’s gorgeous, but it also means something. For it to be there for Song of the Year makes me feel so good.”
