On the kiss-off anthem, SZA vents about being fed up with her ex lover. “Used to be too solid ’til you scrambled me / Used to be your rider, you mishandle me / Used to be nonviolent ’til you ambushed me / Now I’m out here wildin’ with you / Now I’m out here, silent treatment, that mean no permission,” she sings in the second verse.

“I Hate U” was originally shared with two other unreleased songs, “Nightbird” and “Joni.” It’s the follow-up to SZA’s “The Anonymous Ones,” which appeared on the Dear Evan Hansen soundtrack in September.
SZA most recently appeared on “No Love” from Summer Walker’s number-one album, Still Over It.
In other news, SZA’s “Good Days” is nominated for Best R&B Song at the 2022 Grammy Awards. She is also up for Record of the Year and Song of the Year for her feature on Doja Cat’s “Kiss Me More.” It won Collaboration of the Year at the 2021 American Music Awards.
