When it comes to the visual presentation of her music, Tinashe understands the assignment. This was the case in the official video for “X,” taken from her album 333.
Heading home after a seemingly late work shift, Tinashe gets stopped by a cunning peddler pitching a sale on a crystal ball. He insists it will reveal a forward look at what she becomes for a low price.
The all-knowing ball shows a high-energized and fashionable Tinashe, striking sickening poses and making light work of a dance routine.
Between the foreshadowing scenes, it pans back to the present-day Tinashe and street vendor, who still hasn’t convinced her of the crystal sphere or its predictions. You’ll have to watch the full video below to see if the transaction was successful.
Tinashe put out her current LP 333 last August. The follow-up to the singer-songwriter’s 2019 release Songs for You boasted cameos from Jeremih, Buddy, Kaash Paige, and Wax Motif, as well as her two brothers Quiet Child and KUDZAI.
Before last year’s ending, 333 won acclaim from Rated R&B as one of the Best R&B Albums of 2021.
