Emerging singer Maeta has returned with a new single titled “Frank For You,” which she co-wrote with Rook Monroe.
On the candid track, produced by Monroe, Maeta tells a love interest that she isn’t ready to commit to a relationship.
“You want someone / And I’m someone / But it’s much too soon, too soon / You know what’s up / This ain’t true love / But you’ll get through to somebody,” sings Maeta.
She later sings, “I know that I may do some things to give you hope boy / But you’re no better than me yea / And even when you finally find somebody else boy / I kinda hope she won’t be everything you needed.”
“Frank For You” is the follow-up to Maeta’s cover of Don Toliver’s “Swangin’ On Westheimer.”
Last April, Maeta released her Habits EP on Roc Nation Records. It included features from Leven Kali, BEAM and Buddy.
In January, Maeta unleashed the video for the EP’s title track, co-directed by Zemia and Alexis ZA.
Maeta is set to perform at the Sol Blume Festival this spring. She will take the stage on Sunday, May 1, at Discovery Park in Sacramento, California. Jhené Aiko, Summer Walker, Tinashe, Victoria Monét, Joyce Wrice and more are scheduled to perform that day as well.
