Silk Sonic celebrates Valentine’s Day with a cover of Con Funk Shun’s bedroom classic “Love’s Train.” It features an updated production by Bruno Mars and D’Mile.
In a joint statement, Mars and Anderson .Paak noted that “Love’s Train” is one of their favorite songs.
“We love this song so much we wanted to sing it for y’all. #HappyValentinesDay Beautiful people,” they said.
The original version, written by members Michael Cooper and Felton C. Pilate II, appeared on the band’s 1982 album, To The Max.
Legendary R&B group Dru Hill also covered “Love’s Train” on their self-titled debut album, which celebrated its 25th anniversary last year.

Silk Sonic’s cover comes just a day after .Paak’s special appearance at the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show. He was spotted on stage playing the drums during Eminem’s performance of “Lose Yourself.” Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent and Kendrick Lamar also performed.

Last week, Silk Sonic’s “Smokin Out The Window” peaked at No. 1 at urban radio, after topping R&B radio in January. The song appears on Silk Sonic’s debut album, An Evening With Silk Sonic, which was ranked No. 3 on Rated R&B’s 30 Best R&B Albums of 2021 list.
The album features their other smash single “Leave The Door Open,” which is nominated for multiple Grammys, including Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song.
On Feb. 25, Silk Sonic will kick off their Las Vegas residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM. They will play 25 shows up until May 29.
