If you think really hard, it’s not difficult to pinpoint one person in your life who wins the award as the “Favorite Human.” That vote comes easily for Grammy winner Jason “Poo Bear” Boyd, explaining his top choice on his first proper track of the year.
Offering a delicious blend of Caribbean-flavored elements and radio-friendly vocals full of admiration, Poo Bear aims to get the rubber-stamp from top 40 enthusiasts.
In a press statement, Poo Bear shared “Favorite Human” was initially penned as a poem by Nabeel Y. Zahid, a frequent collaborator and poet, who wrote it as a special tribute to his son.
While working together in the studio, Poo Bear saw how this creative moment was an essential learning opportunity.
“The entire experience of collaborating with him on this record allowed me the ability to show growth as a writer by converting this poem into a song,” he explained.
He added, “‘Favorite Human’ is really about those special special people in your life, in my case I was thinking about my wife and family while creating this, but I think it’s something very special that anyone would be able to relate to.”
“Favorite Human” follows Poo Bear’s previous 2022 release, a Joel Corry-crafted remix to last year’s “Distant Shore.” The standard version peaked at No. 23 on the Billboard Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart.
Last year, Poo Bear headlined Rated R&B a few times, namely for his song “The Day You Left” and inking a deal with Def Jam.
