Yuna has shared Y3, the third of five capsule projects leading up to her forthcoming album Y5. It includes three new songs, one of which has a supporting video.

There are streaks of lightweight R&B with light and breezy vocals and beautiful minimal production suited as a foundation. The songs on Y3 are made for playlists targeted at those experiencing feelings across all sides of the love spectrum.

What can be loved about track one, “Don’t Wanna Know,” is that we’ve all been there before, unwilling to release obsessive emotions for an old flame we don’t want to see leave. Yuna turns a blind eye and refuses to acknowledge a former lover’s decision to separate from what is nothing there.

Yuna touched on “Risk It All” in a statement. “It’s a love song I wrote about my personal experience of having a great chemistry with someone from the first day we met, and knowing that this could really go somewhere,” she explained. “It’s about being secure in moving forward with this person and knowing you’d risk it all for this one true love.”

The last above-mentioned track is tied to a music video, which was shot in Malibu and directed by Yuna’s husband Adam Sinclair.

Y3 is the follow-up to Y2, which was released in May 2022. The first installment of the five-part album series arrived on March 2022. Both of the latter two releases also had three songs and came packaged with at least one music video.

Yuna plans to issue Y5 sometime later this year. The album, which will be released independently, will serve as Yuna’s first proper album since 2019’s Rouge. That work was released under Verve Forest Records, and featured the songs “Forevermore” and “Blank Marquee.”

Rouge featured contributions from Masego, Tyler, the Creator, G-Eazy and many more.
