Jamie Foxx has signed on to star in J.J. Perry’s new Netflix original action film Day Shift, which premieres Aug. 12. The movie was produced by Chad Stahelski and written by Tyler Tice and Shay Hatten.
Day Shift surrounds Bud (Jamie), a Los Angeles pool cleaner in desperate need of some serious cash to front essential bills for his young daughter. But his day job is a mere cover-up for his side profession as a vampire hunter.
The forthcoming film also stars Dave Franco and West Coast rap legend Snoop Dogg, whose role is described in press materials as a “cowboy vampire hunter.”

Foxx, who also executive produced Day Shift, relationship with Netflix started in February 2021 when he was cast in the sitcom Dad Stop Embarrassing Me! Based on his father-daughter relationship with his daughter Corinne Foxx, the eight-episode series was not renewed for a second season.
Another Netflix-related movie coming down the can for Foxx is They Cloned Tyrone, a sci-fil film due sometime later this year.
Before that, the Oscar winner stayed busy on the acting turf. In December 2021, Foxx joined the cast of Spider-man: No Way Home as Electro. In late 2020, he voice starred in the award-winning animated film Soul. He’ll appear in the live-action adult comedy, Strays, directed by hits theaters on June 9, 2023.
Additionally, Foxx entered a brand partnership with Brown Sugar Bourbon.
Foxx last released the album Hollywood: A Story of a Dozen Roses in 2015. Rated R&B celebrated the 15th anniversary of his 2005 classic Unpredictable in late 2020. Several key album players offered commentary, including Mike City, Sean Garrett, Kenny Bereal, Mr. Collipark and more.
“I think that a lot of emotion went into that album, which made it timeless to me,” Bereal told Rated R&B.
“He surrounded himself with some very talented songwriters and producers from that school of true musicianship. There were some really talented vocalists around him during that album made it come out fantastic.”
Recently, Dogg released co-headlined Super Bowl LVI. He was joined by several hip-hop figures, including Mary J. Blige. Before that, he collaborated with Blige (“Diamond Life“) on his 2021 album Snoop Dogg Presents Algorithm. Usher also joined the project on the track “New Oldie,” which featured Eric Bellinger.
