The Isley Brothers (Ronald Isley and Ernie Isley) have joined forces with Beyoncé to remake their 1975 classic, “Make Me Say It Again Girl.” It premiered on iHeartRadio on Tuesday (Aug. 9), and will release worldwide this Friday, Aug. 12.
The upcoming remake marks Beyoncé and The Isley Brother’s first collaboration. It’s a full-circle moment, considering Destiny’s Child sampled the same track on their seductive tune “Second Nature” from their self-titled debut album, which was released in 1998.
Ronald revealed to Billboard that Beyoncé recorded her vocals last year while working on her latest album, Renaissance. His wife Kandy, who is also his road manager, shared how Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson, played a pivotal role in making the collaboration happen.

“Tina Knowles-Lawson [Beyoncé’s mother] was very influential in getting this record started and getting it to the point where we are now,” Kandy told Billboard. “She has a love for the Isley Brothers and her daughter grew up listening to this type of music. All we can say is that God’s hands was on this whole project. And the fact that they are giving us permission to put it out at this time is just overly special.”
“Make Me Say It Again Girl” is the follow-up to The Isley Brothers’ 2021 single “Friends and Family” featuring Snoop Dogg. They released the feel-good song after their Verzuz celebration with Earth, Wind & Fire. It was accompanied by a video directed by Erik White, and featured cameos from Alex Isley (Ernie’s daughter), Syleena Johnson, Vivica A. Fox and more.
Both songs will appear on The Isley Brothers’ new album, Make Me Say It Again Girl, which is scheduled to release in September. According to Variety, Make Me also includes appearances from Alicia Keys, Drake, Trey Songz and Rick Ross. The album will follow 2017’s Power of Peace, their joint project with Carlos Santana.
“Make Me Say It Again Girl, Pts. 1 & 2” originally appeared on The Isley Brothers’ 13th studio album, The Heat Is On.
