Jacob Banks is back with a new album. Lies About The War marks the British singer’s first proper full-length since 2018’s Village, named one of Rated R&B’s best albums that year. His new set was not released under a major label but on his Nobody Records imprint.
“It’s about how when soldiers return from war, they tell elaborate stories of what occurred, but this tale of events only comes from their perspective,” Banks explained in a statement about the title.
“It goes to say that the victors seemingly dictate how history is told because they are the ones that made it out. It means that we need to believe we are the heroes of our own story.”
Lies About The War includes the singles “Just When I Thought,” “By Design (Evel Knievel),” and the most recent, “Bang,” featuring Tobe Nwigwe.

On top of Nwigwe, Banks also rallied thriving artists Samm Henshaw, Adekunle Gold and Anna Leone for the ten-song album.
Banks shared more about Lies About The War. “The project speaks in hindsight to what I’ve learned along the way, and is an oversimplification of everything that happened,” he said. “This album was made with a lot of warmth and is a Polaroid of all the love and peace I was able to enjoy.”
Banks will support his latest album and previous material, including his 2021 EP For My Friends, on the road this fall. The massive world tour begins in North America on Sept. 28 at The Fillmore in San Francisco, California. Then, he’ll perform in other major U.S. cities before wrapping up the first leg on Oct. 31 at Varsity Theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
On Nov. 6, Banks will resume the series of concerts overseas. Get information on tickets and dates on his official website.
