Kehlani has earned their first RIAA award of the year. Cardi B‘s “Ring” featuring Kehlani has been certified 3x multi-platinum with over three million equivalent units sold.
This achievement gives Kehlani their best-selling release to date. But, still and all, “Nights Like This,” featuring Ty Dolla $ign, remains their most-certified release as a lead artist. It’s 2x multi-platinum.
Now, back to “Ring.” The Needlz and Scribz Riley-produced track appears on Cardi B’s Grammy-winning 2018 debut album, Invasion of Privacy. It debuted and peaked at No. 28 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Elsewhere, the collaboration reached No. 2 on the Rap Airplay chart; No. 2 on the Rhythmic Airplay chart; No. 3 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart; No. 9 on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart; and No. 12 on the Rap Streaming Songs chart.
On Spotify, “Ring” has surpassed over 215 million streams. Meanwhile, the official video, directed by Mike Ho, has more than 234 million views on YouTube.
The new certification for “Ring” is Kehlani’s second RIAA honor this year. It follows Aminé’s “Heebiejeebies,” on which Kehlani appears, going platinum. The latter track appears on Aminé’s Good for You project.
Last year, Kehlani released their third album, Blue Water Road. The LP opened at No. 3 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart and No. 13 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Justin Bieber, Thundercat, Blxst, Jessie Reyez, Syd, and Ambré made vocal contributions to Blue Water Road, executive produced by Pop Wansel.
Blue Water Road placed No. 13 on Rated R&B’s Best R&B Albums of 2022 list.
Rated R&B’s Edward Dave wrote, “After 27 years on this earth, Kehlani has never seemed so sure of their spirituality and sexuality than on Blue Water Road. This album sees Kehlani in their most vulnerable light yet, while still retaining their trademark sensualness that listeners love to indulge.”
Solo music aside, Kehlani lent their vocals to projects by Babyface (Girls Night Out) and Dreamville (Creed III: The Soundtrack).
Kehlani will be able to perform all their new music at festivals this year. On Apr. 28, Kehlani is set to play Pharrell’s Something in the Water Festival in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Later this spring, Kehlani will return to Virginia; this time, Bristow to perform alongside Syd and UMI at Say It Out Loud. The event takes place at Jiffy Lube Live on June 17.
Afterward, Kehlani will headline Sol Blume in Sacramento, California. The two-day affair, initially scheduled for Apr. 29 and Apr. 30, has been postponed to Aug. 19 and 20.
