It looks like Kehlani’s musical delivery came earlier than expected. The mommy-to-be premiered her new song “Nights Like This” featuring Ty Dolla $ign, along with a corresponding video.
The sci-fi inspired video features Kehlani as a scientist who repairs a female robot she found on her doorstep and Ty Dolla $ign as the friend who assists her. As she teaches her how to be a human, things take a turn for the worst by the end of the video.
In an attempt to express her feelings to a confused lover, on the spacey futuristic beat, she sings, “On some nights like this, I just wanna text you, but for what? / You gon’ say you want me, then go switch it up / Just gon’ play with my emotions just because, no,” she sings.
This is the first sign of music from the Bay Area singer since her 2017 debut SweetSexySavage. Even with her new edition on the way, Kehlani won’t let that stop her grind. She assured us on Twitter on Thursday (Jan. 10) that she’s going to lace us with bops and deep cuts on the release of her expected mixtape.
