Thundercat is heading out on tour this fall. The Grammy winner announced his headlining It’s Yo Girl’s City Tour, sponsored by SelvaRey Rum. It’s his first headlining tour since 2021’s It Is What It Is Tour.
In addition to festival performances at Newport Jazz Festival, THING Music and Arts Festival and Music at the Intersection, Thundercat’s tour itinerary will include stops in various U.S. cities, including Portland, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Chicago, New York and San Antonio.
In November, Thundercat will play a mini tour in Latin American territories, including Rio de Janeiro and Santiago, Chile.
Fans can sign up to receive a passcode for an artist presale event on Tuesday, May 2, at 10 a.m. Any remaining Thundercat’s It’s Yo Girl’s City Tour tickets will be available via general on-sale Friday, May 5.
As Thundercat prepares for his official tour, he continues to support the North American leg of Red Hot Chili Peppers’ global 2023 tour. It ends on May 25 at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas.
Thundercat is set to hit the stage at several other festivals this year, including the Hangout Music Festival, Beyond The Pale Festival and Glastonbury Festival, among others.
Most recently, Thundercat released a new song titled “No More Lies” featuring Tame Impala. It has not yet been announced if it will appear on a future album.
“No More Lies” is Thundercat’s first non-soundtrack and first song as a lead artist since 2020’s It Is What It Is. The album, named one of Rated R&B’s 30 Best R&B Albums of 2020, included popular tracks “Funny Thing” and “Dragonball Durag.”
It Is What It Is won Best Progressive R&B Album at the 63rd Grammy Awards in 2021.
Since then, Thundercat has contributed music (“Fly Like an Eagle“) to the Minions: The Rise of Gru soundtrack and projects by Kaytranada (Intimated), Kehlani (Blue Water Road) and Silk Sonic (An Evening With Silk Sonic).
Speaking of Silk Sonic, the duo composed of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, Thundercat earned his first No. 1 single on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart with “After Last Night.” It topped R&B radio as well.
