Keyshia Cole and K. Michelle agree that collaborating on a joint project would be a great idea.

On Thursday (Oct. 5), Cole’s fanbase took to Twitter to ask who would make a perfect collaborative album with Cole.

Several women in the genre were suggested, including Faith Evans, Keke Wyatt, and K. Michelle. Cole approved of the combination in a tweet.

Another fan tweeted that Cole and K. Michelle would “compliment each other so well.” Cole responded, “I wouldn’t mind at all.”

K. Michelle shared her thoughts on working with Cole in her Instagram Stories after seeing a tweet about it. “I’m with it,” she wrote.

This isn’t the first time Cole and K. Michelle have discussed collaborating. In autumn 2014, K. Michelle teased a co-headlining tour with Cole that was scheduled to launch in January 2015.

While promoting her sophomore album (Anybody Wanna Buy a Heart?), K. Michelle told Billboard that she would do shows with Cole, but no official dates for the tour or spot dates were announced.

In February 2021, K. Michelle revealed on Twitter that she and Cole had reconciled and were considering releasing a joint EP.

“So last night on clubhouse was a great moment for the culture. Me and @KeyshiaCole squashed any little misunderstandings we had like adults and sang songs together all night. Y’all might even see a joint EP,” she wrote.

According to songwriter and producer David “Swagg R’Celious” Harris, K. Michelle’s “Pain Killa” was originally intended to be a collaboration between K. Michelle and Cole back in 2013. The song was initially released on K. Michelle’s Hold Over EP and later on Still No Fu*ks Given.

“At one point, we were talking about getting Keyshia Cole on it, and it never happened. I forget the reasons, but I think when we first made it, it was like, ‘Man, this would be dope to have Keyshia Cole on it,” Swagg R’Celious exclusively told Rated R&B in August 2023.

In November, K. Michelle will release an EP under the name Puddin, which will have a country-inspired sound.

Cole is currently gaining attention for her unreleased rendition of Coco Jones’ hit single “ICU,” which is quickly going viral. She has been working in the studio on her highly anticipated eighth album.

In conjunction with her biopic, Keyshia Cole: This is My Story, which premiered on Lifetime during Black Music Month in June, she released the track “Forever Is a Thing.”
