Leon Thomas has teamed up with genre-bending act Blxst for his “Crash & Burn (Remix).”
Thomas’ perspective on romance remains the same, whether expressed through the melancholy subject matter or the soulful vocals and production of the track.
Blxst also shares his take, stating that finding love in Los Angeles is not idyllic for him either. Instead of risking heartbreak, Blxst shares, “My advice is stay dangerous.”
“Crash & Burn” isn’t the first song Thomas has retouched this year. In May, he collaborated with Victoria Monét to release a remix version of “Breaking Point.”

The solo version of “Crash & Burn” and both the original and new versions of “Breaking Point” are taken from Thomas’ debut album, Electric Dusk. He unveiled the former track as the fourth song ahead of his first full-length record.
“This is a song about yearning for a meaningful relationship, but only finding surface-level and materialistic bonds and the emotional toll it takes on you. It’s the journey of feeling numb to the possibility of finding true love at all,” Thomas explained about “Crash & Burn” in a previous statement.
Electric Dusk was released Aug. 18 via Ty Dolla $ign’s EZMNY Records, in partnership with Motown Records. The 12-track set includes two other previously-released tracks “X-Rated” featuring Benny the Butcher and “Love Jones” featuring Ty.

Thomas discussed Electric Dusk in-depth with Rated R&B. When asked what he hopes fans take away from the album, he told Rated R&B, “I want people to understand how human I am.”
He continued, “This album was a really great example of me laying it all out on the floor and hoping that people understand where I’m coming from. I want people to listen with open ears and open minds because I’m definitely taking some chances on this one, but I feel confident that people are understanding me.”
