Usher’s “Good Good” is No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart for a third successive week.
The collaboration, which features Summer Walker and 21 Savage, ends the R&B superstar’s brief tie with his previous hit “GLU,” which held the top spot for two weeks earlier this year.
“Good Good” now gives Usher his longest-running No. 1 song since the Sean Garrett and Zaytoven-produced “Papers” in 2010, which also spent three weeks in the high chair.
His chart-topping best remains “Here I Stand,” which had a seven-week reign beginning Dec. 6, 2008.
Usher notched his eighth Adult R&B leader during the week dated Nov. 18 as “Good Good” leaped from No. 3 to No. 1.
He joined Bruno Mars, Tank, Maxwell, and Kem for the second-most No. 1s among male artists on this list.
Upon its release, “Good Good” zoomed to No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales chart.
It later reached the top of multiple Billboard charts, including the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay and Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay. It marked his 16th No. 1 on the former and 17th on the latter.
On Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart this week, “Good Good” ranks at No. 16, surpassing his previous best, “I Don’t Mind” featuring Juicy J, which reached No. 17 in March of 2015.
At R&B radio, “Good Good” scoots back from No. 1 to No. 2, despite a nearly 9% decline in spins. It held the top spot on this radio chart for two weeks, coinciding with its rise to the No. 1 position on the Adult R&B Airplay chart.
No other artist has led R&B, rhythmic, and urban radio with one song this year except Usher.
Furthermore, “Good Good” remains at No. 15 on Mainstream Top 40, according to Mediabase.
“Good Good” is the official lead single from Usher’s upcoming ninth album, Coming Home, which will be released Feb. 9, 2024.
“We’ve put a lot of thought and creativity into this new album to tell a story that is open to interpretation and that will connect with people in different ways,” said Usher. “I know this has been a long time coming for my fans and what I’ll say is that all good things come to those who wait. I hope you enjoy it once you hear it.”
Usher will be headlining Apple Music’s Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Feb. 11, 2024. His performance ties in with the release of his album, Coming Home.
“It’s an honor of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list. I can’t wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they’ve seen from me before,” Usher shared in a statement. “Thank you to the fans and everyone who made this opportunity happen. I’ll see you real soon.”
In other music news, Usher is featured on “Transparency,” a song by 2 Chainz and Lil’ Wayne. It’s gaining early traction on rhythmic and urban radio. The song appears on the joint project, Welcome to Collegrove, out now.
Usher was honored with three awards at the 2023 Soul Train Awards, which took place on Sunday.
