Music icon Charlie Wilson will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The ceremony will occur on Wilson’s 71st birthday (Monday, Jan. 29) at 11 a.m. PT on Hollywood Boulevard.

A few legendary music acts will join The Gap Band’s founding member and lead singer.

Producer Jimmy Jam is set to emcee the event, which will include guest speakers: Babyface, Snoop Dogg, and Wilson’s manager/CEO of P Music Group, Michael Paran.

“Charlie Wilson’s timeless music has brought joy to millions across generations. His upcoming star ceremony will shine as a testament to his extraordinary talent, resilience, and unwavering dedication to his craft,” says Ana Martinez, Walk of Fame producer.

Martinez continues, “I must also add that Charlie’s incredible journey from homelessness and return to show business is a true testament to his indomitable human spirit!”

For those who can’t attend the ceremony, it will be live-streamed at walkoffame.com.

Wilson’s upcoming star on the Walk of Fame will join his lengthy list of accolades, including 13 Grammy nominations, a BET Lifetime Achievement Award, a Soul Train Icon Award and more.

Wilson also holds the record for the most No. 1 hits among male artists on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart, with nine. His most recent chart-topper is 2022’s “No Stoppin’ Us” featuring Babyface, K-Ci Hailey and Johnny Gill.

On Dec. 8, 2023, Wilson released his triumphant single “Superman,” produced by The Stereotypes.

“This song is truly personal for me as it reflects on the love I have for my wife and the turning point that reshaped my entire life. After The Gap Band’s success, I struggled with homelessness and addiction. I entered rehab, meeting my future wife, a counselor at the facility,” Wilson explained.

He added, “She put the cape on my back and we’ve been rollin’ ever since (28 years). This song is also for all women, their strength, love and support is appreciated more than they know.”

Wilson has not confirmed if “Superman,” “No Stoppin’ Us” or 2020’s “Forever Valentine” will appear on a future project. The latter tune was produced and co-written by D’Mile, Bruno Mars, and The Stereotypes.

Wilson’s last full-length album, In It to Win It, was released in 2017.

In other Walk of Fame news, Brandy and Toni Braxton are set to receive their respective stars this year.
