R&B megastar Usher has teamed up with Nigerian singer Pheelz for his new track, “Ruin.”
The R&B-meets-Afrobeats groove is an earworm at first listen. On the silky groove, produced by Pheelz, Usher brings closure to a failed relationship. Even though he’s heartbroken by the situation, he doesn’t hesitate to move on with his single life.
“Bye-bye, good riddance for the last time / So you can try, try, maybe get it right next time / Different timeline, maybe then you can be mine / You ruined me for everybody,” he sings in the chorus.
Pheelz appears in the second verse, singing: “I be learnin’ tricks where you put the money / ‘Cause back then I was very lonely / I still am, I’m just tryna find peace every day / My heart is on holiday.”
“Ruin” is packaged with five remixes and an instrumental version. It’s the follow-up to Usher’s previously shared songs “Good Good” featuring Summer Walker and 21 Savage, “Risk It All” featuring H.E.R. and “Standing Next to You (Remix)” with Jung Kook.
All four songs will appear on Usher’s highly awaited ninth album, Coming Home, out Feb. 9 on his mega imprint in partnership with Larry Jackson’s gamma company.
Coming Home will feature additional appearances by The-Dream, Burna Boy and Latto. Coming Home is the follow-up to Usher’s 2016 album, Hard II Love, released on RCA Records.
On Feb. 11, Usher will headline Apple Music’s Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
