FLO is back with yet another summer bop. The rising R&B group has shared their new single, “Check,” produced by Styalz Fuego and Rudy Sandapa.
Over a dance-inducing production, which samples Syreeta Wright’s 1977 classic “I Too Am Wanting,” the trio gushes over their respective lovers.
“So all my friends ask me, Is he loyal? (Check) / He spoil you? (Check) / Does he clear that? (Check) / Before you met him, did you do your background? (Check) / Is he faithful? (Check) / Gentleman? (Check) / The way I trust him, I ain’t gotta check,” Renée sings in the chorus.
Speaking on their new single, FLO explains, “‘Check’ is a lover girl anthem! It’s a refreshing take on relationships for us and is different from anything we’ve released in the past. It comes from a softer, happier and more loving place. It feels great to all be in relationships, so it only felt right to drop a lovergirl anthem for the summer.”
“Check” arrives with a slumber party-themed video directed by Troy Roscoe, which can be watched below.
“Check” is FLO’s third song released this year, following “Caught Up” and “Walk Like This.”
Regarding the former track, they explained, “It’s very simple; we are not going to lose ourselves going crazy over a guy; if you get caught up, it’s a simple bye-bye. We know our worth and ‘Caught up’ is a friendly reminder that we are not to be played with.”
Speaking on “Walk Like This,” FLO shared, “The song is about that energy you have when you embrace your sensuality and womanhood. It’s okay to admit a man’s doing well from time to time! We hope it makes you feel confident, a bit naughty and adds that extra sway to your walk.”
In 2023, FLO released their Missy Elliott-assisted bop “Fly Girl” and their 3 of Us EP.
Later this summer, FLO will join Kehlani as a supporting act on the Crash World Tour.
The 31-city North American leg begins Sept. 4 in Minneapolis and will make stops in Chicago, Toronto, Miami, Vancouver, and Las Vegas. The tour concludes Nov. 2 in San Fransisco. Tickets are on sale now.
