Chlöe Bailey’s sophomore album, Trouble in Paradise, will release Friday, Aug. 9, via Parkwood Entertainment/Columbia Records.
The Grammy-nominated singer surprised her fans on Monday (Aug. 5) after teasing a big announcement last week.
“A storm is coming. TROUBLE IN PARADISE 8/9 ,” Chlöe wrote in an Instagram for the unveiling of the cover art.
The textless artwork shows Chlöe, wearing a neon yellow dress, floating in a pool of water.
Trouble in Paradise will include the singles “FYS” and “Boy Bye.” The former track was produced by Chlöe, Bongo ByTheWay, Go Grizzly, and Cashmere Brown.
“Boy Bye,” released ahead of Chlöe’s Coachella performance in April, was produced by Yeti Beats, Rogét Chahayed, Carter Lang, and Kurtis McKenzie.
Regarding the album’s second single, Chlöe explained, “‘Boy Bye’ is an anthem for anyone who needs to get rid of someone toxic and draining from their life. It’s liberating and free. That’s how it feels to finally let go of dead weight that’s been keeping you down. Instead of being sad about releasing what’s not good for me, I celebrate it.
Trouble in Paradise consists of 16 tracks and features Ty Dolla $ign, Anderson .Paak, YG Marley, Jeremih, and Halle.
Trouble in Paradise is the follow-up to Chlöe’s debut album, In Pieces, released March 31, 2023. The project debuted at No. 17 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart.
In Pieces includes the singles “How Does It Feel” featuring Chris Brown and “Pray It Away.” It also featured Missy Elliott (“Told Ya”) and Future (“Cheatback”).
Chlöe supported her first solo album on her sold-out In Pieces Tour.
In Pieces was featured on Rated R&B’s 25 Best R&B Albums of 2023 list. “Throughout In Pieces, Chlöe leans into her strengths as a storyteller and vocalist,” wrote Antwane Folk.
In an April interview with Forbes, Chlöe confirmed that she and Halle, together known as Chloe x Halle, have new music dropping in early 2025.
“I am super proud of my sister and I’m also really proud of myself. We both have really cool solo projects coming this year and probably top of next year is when our group music will drop, which will be really exciting,” Chlöe told Forbes. “I cannot wait for that and I know the fans are itching for it, too!”
