R&B crooners Xavier Omär and ELHAE have announced their joint EP, Truth Be Told, will release Aug. 23.
“It was fun to bounce ideas with one of the most talented people in R&B today, it just so happens he’s also been my best friend since childhood,” ELHAE tells Rated R&B. “It felt like a great time to give our listeners a token of our gratitude and also scratch something off our bucket list.”
Omär adds, “This project is a thank you to the fans in many ways. After the love that ‘Favourite’ received and the love we received from the fans on tour, we thought this was a nice way to put a bow on the era. The music came together rather easy because of our chemistry, so we hope people feel that as they listen.”
Truth Be Told, a five-track offering, will include the new single “Luv 4 U,” produced by Dylan Graham and Oliver Grose III.
Arriving just in time for cuffing season, “Luv 4 U” Omär and ELHAE expressing their desire to pursue a relationship with their respective love interests.
In the first verse, Omär sings, “Okay, who messed up and fumbled off you? / I could never though (nah) / I just wanna spend some time / Tell me what’s really on your mind.”
ELHAE sings, “Okay, we been friends way too long / On my way, check your phone / Hop in, we out tonight.”
“Luv 4 U” is the follow-up to Xavier Omär and ELHAE’s 2023 single “Favourite,” which has garnered over 1.5 million Spotify streams. “Favourite” was released ahead of their co-headlining Never Dream: The Tour.
In March 2023, ELHAE released his album Forgotten Flowers, which included a feature from rapper Big K.R.I.T.
Xavier Omär’s last solo project, b l u r r, was released in 2022. The EP featured the singles “Feelings 4 U” and “Tarantino.”
When asked about his intention behind the b l u r r, Omär told Rated R&B, “I have to provide for my family, and I have to be there for my fans. I don’t have the bandwidth to put together a full album right now, but I wanted to put a body of work out to the people.”
At the time, Omär, his wife and newborn daughter had just relocated to Dallas.
“I’m still in full transition mode,” Omär said of the EP’s title. “It has been an absolute blur in learning fatherhood. It’s been a blur in kind of relearning marriage, which nobody told me about that part. Once you have a kid in a marriage, obviously some things have to change because her body has changed, and her needs from you, at least temporarily, have changed.”
In 2021, Omär appeared on “Sick of Playing” from ELHAE’s album Aura III. The album also featured Masego (“My City“) and Rick Ross (“Fun Fact“).
