Q Parker, formerly of 112, has achieved a big win as a solo artist on this week’s Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart. The Grammy winner’s current single, “Beg,” moves from No. 11 to No. 10, making it his first-ever top 10 single without accompaniment.
Additionally, “Beg” gives Q Parker his best position as a solo act on this airplay chart since “Yes,” the second single from his debut album, The MANual, released in 2012. That track reached No. 19.
Q Parker’s only other Adult R&B appearance as a lone star was “Show You How,” the debut single from his 2011 album. It peaked at No. 21.
In December 2017, Q Parker achieved his first top 10 hit and second overall when 112’s “Dangerous Games” was on the airwaves. That single, lifted from their Q Mike Slim Daron album, peaked at No. 8.
“Beg” debuted at No. 26 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart in the Sept. 26 issue. The pleading tune marked his solo return on this chart after more than a decade.
Released on Aug. 29, “Beg” is Q Parker’s first solo material since 2012. He is currently on a promotional tour to spread the word about this track, which was produced by Blac Elvis.
“We are in the BEGging season! Beg! Not because you did anything wrong, but just because you care, you love ’em, you value them, and do it every day,” Q Parker told Rated R&B of the song’s inspiration.
During his solo time away, Q Parker engaged audiences with collaborative 2020 singles like “I Need You” and “Made For,” featuring artists from gospel, R&B, and soul genres.
Q Parker recently collaborated with the New American Soul group, The Shindellas, on their track “Think of Me Too.”
In other news, Q Parker is scheduled to perform on the State Farm Arena stage on Friday, Dec. 20, for Atlanta’s V-103 Winterfest 2024. He will share the stage with RL (of Next), Carl Thomas, and Jase4Real (of Soul for Real).
Other artists on in the Winterfest lineup include Bell Biv DeVoe, Xscape, and Silk. Tickets are available at ticketmaster.com.
