R&B duo Bathe, consisting of vocalist Devin Hobdy and producer Corey Smith-West, has revealed their sophomore album, Inside Voice(s), will release March 21 via MNRK Music Group.
“Inside Voice(s) is our attempt to make sense of the noise around and inside of us,” explains Bathe. “It contains the sounds of the hopes and joys that motivate us, as well as the fears and disappointments that tempt us to stay in bed. Writing this album forced us to sit with and come to terms with these voices, friendly and frightening, inside and out.”
Along with their album announcement, the Brooklyn-based duo has released the lead single, “Here.” On the somber track, which starts as a ballad before introducing rhythmic instrumentation, Hobdy sings about the dreadful feeling of winter blues.
“I just wanna lay here / The changing of the seasons / I know you wanna help / But I’ll be gone until the winter ends,” he croons.
Speaking on “Here,” Bathe notes, “We’re based in NYC, and so every year there’s a time where it feels like the sun is already falling right as the day starts. On days like that it can be tempting to just stay in bed and forget about the outside world altogether. ‘Here’ is a soundtrack for anyone fighting that feeling and finding a way back to their feet.”
“Here” arrives with a video directed by Godfred Ceasar Sedano, which can be watched below.
Inside Voice(s) will include all six tracks from Bathe’s Inside Voice(s): Side A EP plus five additional songs.
The EP, released in September 2024, included earworms like “Avalon,” “Fields” and “Bad News.”
When asked why they decided to release their album in two parts, Smith-West told Rated R&B, “No one has any real tolerance for fully-formed journeys — it feels as much, not to insult the audience or anything like that. I’m the same way, too. I find that rather than giving out a multi-phase idea, it felt right to have both of these chapters and give them some time to stand alone so they could be the thing that they were supposed to be a hundred percent.”

Smith-West also compared the two sides, noting, “Side A is mostly warm and fuzzy, with a little bit of melancholy. Side B is melancholy, with some warm fuzzies tucked away. It just felt right to let both stand on their own for a little bit and get their time in the sun before ultimately combining them.”
Inside Voice(s) is the follow-up to Bathe’s 2021 debut album, Bicoastal. The latter project included popular tracks like “Schönefeld,” “Bolero” and “Sundress.”
Beginning Feb. 13, Bathe will join British funk band Cymande on the U.S leg of their Renascence Tour. The tour will make stops in Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Denver, and more before concluding Feb. 28 in Los Angeles.
