Kevin Ross has unveiled his new EP, Love Uptempo Vol. 1, will release March 14 via Art Society Music Group/EMPIRE.
Speaking on the project’s theme, Ross explains, “Time is the most valuable thing we have. It’s about time we kill, time we regret, time well spent, and time we forget. Life has its own rhythm, its own tempo, and this project is all about the pace we’re living at.”
The four-song collection is preceded by the lead single, “Love In The Middle,” which is out today (Jan. 24). On the romantic track, Ross expresses his gratitude to his partner who has been more than patient with him as juggles the pressures of being an artist.
“Ooh, I know it’s been a real long time / Yeah, I’ve been doing the most / Flying coast to coast / You never stressed me out / And ooh, I just wanna blow your mind / So move your plans around, while you adjust your crown,” he croons.
Ross co-wrote and co-produced the soulful tune with Claude Kelly and Chuck Harmony of the musical duo Louis York.
“It was an absolute pleasure working on with Claude Kelly and Chuck Harmony,” Ross tells Rated R&B. “We wrote, produced, and recorded it in Nashville. It’s something about that city that sparks creative freedom. I believe it’s the perfect time for that record.”
Kelly comments, “It’s crazy how easy it was to work with Kevin in the studio. The chemistry was just there immediately. He knows what he’s doing, he knows his voice, he knows R&B music in a real way. ‘Love In The Middle’ is the magic you get when three friends lock-in to make a timeless love song that the people can still dance and sing along to forever.”
Harmony adds, “It’s always a pleasure when the artist knows who they are and what direction they want to go in musically. Kevin knew exactly where he wanted to go so we explored and created something unforgettable. ‘Love In The Middle’ is a special one.”
Ross’ Love Uptempo EP will follow 2023 projects Midnight Microdose, Vol. 1 and Midnight Microdose, Vol. 2.
“If I had to sum up Midnight Microdose Vol. 2 in one word it would be, DRAMATIC,” Ross shared. “I love sequencing my projects whether to create a flow, set a vibe, tell a story or all three at once. Excited for people to uncover another layer of my artistry with this project.”
Midnight Microdose, Vol. 1 included the Billboard top 10 hit “Look My Way.”
