Kevin Ross returned with Midnight Microdose, Vol. 2, the second installment of a planned three-part series.
Midnight Microdose, Vol. 2 includes the previously shared track “Ready For It” featuring Eric Bellinger, which now boasts a newly released music video.
Regarding his collaboration with Bellinger, Ross stated, “I just wanted to make a bop that wasn’t completely toxic. Men can still be clear in their intentions for love without it being perceived as soft or corny.”
One of the six tracks (“Ain’t Mine) depicts him as a lover to a woman who is already in a relationship, while another track (“Found Me”) shows him changing his ways after falling in love.
Discussing the new project, Ross says, “If I had to sum up Midnight Microdose Vol. 2 in one word it would be, DRAMATIC. I love sequencing my projects whether to create a flow, set a vibe, tell a story or all three at once. Excited for people to uncover another layer of my artistry with this project.”
Midnight Microdose, Vol. 2 is the follow-up to Midnight Microdose, Vol. 1, released in May via Art Society Music Group/EMPIRE. The latter record included the previously shared tracks “Show & Prove” and “Look My Way.”
The lead single from Vol. 1, titled “Look My Way,” has made its way to the No. 8 spot on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart. This marks his third consecutive top 10 hit, following his other singles “Looking For Love” and “Sweet Release.” Both of these tracks were taken from his 2021 EP, Drive 2.
Circling back to Midnight Microdose, tracks from Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 will be bundled into the full-length album Midnight Microdose with bonus tracks. The album will be released later this year.
Solo music aside, Ross teamed with fellow rising singers CAMP (“IDC“) and J. Brown (“Weightless“) for their respective releases. He also joined Kenyon Dixon for the official “Slow Dancing (Remix).”
Before any of those tracks, Ross appeared on the Creed III: The Soundtrack. He contributed to writing a song starring Baby Rose, and joined rappers WESTSIDE BOOGIE and Cozz in creating “Headhunters.”
