Genre-bending singer and songwriter Aloe Blacc has returned with his new album, Stand Together.
As the album’s title suggests, Stand Together is rooted in community and unity. “Music has always been a powerful tool for bringing people together, and I wanted this album to do more than just inspire—I wanted it to take action,” says Blacc.
He continues, “Each song on Stand Together represents a mission bigger than myself, shining a light on the incredible organizations doing the work to uplift communities and create lasting change.”
Blacc’s first album in five years includes the previously shared songs “Shine (Aurora’s Anthem),” “Don’t Go Alone,” “One Good Thing” and “Breakthrough.”
Among the project’s new tracks is the Stargate-produced “Love In Control,” an uplifting anthem about leading with love. “So here we go, here we go / Give our hearts to one another / And put love in control,” Blacc sings.

Stand Together also includes a reimagined version of Marvin Gaye‘s classic “What’s Going On,” produced by Greg Spero.
Speaking of his version, which adds a reggae twist, Blacc told NPR, “Well, Marvin Gaye – one of his contemporaries is Bob Marley. And I wanted to do this sort of musical dialogue between Marvin Gaye and Bob Marley – so roots reggae and classic soul – because of the way that these two individuals, these two artists, showed up with message music.”
The album’s title is inspired by the mission of The Phoenix, a Stand Together community partner and national sober active community that provides free, active, and meaningful programming to anyone impacted by substance use. Stand Together is a philanthropic community that tackles the root causes of our country’s biggest problems.
Stand Together is the follow-up to Aloe Blacc’s 2020 album, All Love Everything, which was reissued in 2021 with a deluxe edition. The album featured popular songs such as the title track, “Hold On Tight, “”I Do” and “My Way.”
