Mary J. Blige Is Tired of Heartbreak on ‘Want Love’

The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul shares a new track ahead of her Las Vegas residency

Since her 1992 debut, Mary J. Blige has remained an open book about romance and what she desires. Her new single “Want Love,” out via Beautiful Life Productions, continues that conversation.

Over Camper‘s warm, soft-knock production, “Want Love” follows Blige on a quest for the missing piece to her heart. She sings in the chorus: “I want somebody who makes me feel like everything / I want love, I want love, I want love.”

Blige’s pursuit is clear-headed. She knows what she wants and what she doesn’t. “If your happiness is wrapped in heartbreak / Then let us go our separate ways,” she warns.

“Want Love” arrives with a performance-driven music video directed by Nico Scandiffio.

“Want Love” is the follow-up to “More Than A Lover,” also produced by Camper. The latter song, which celebrates a love that transcends, was aptly released on Valentine’s Day.

Both tracks are Blige’s first musical releases since her 2024 album, Gratitude. The latter project includes the No. 1 hits “Breathing” and “You Ain’t The Only One,” both of which topped Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart.

On May 1, Blige will launch her first-ever Las Vegas residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM. The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul will perform 10 shows — five in May and five in July. “I’ve been so excited to announce this Vegas residency. Creating a show like this has been something I’ve always wanted to do,” said Blige.

She added, “It’s a chance to get my fans together from all over – different cities, states, and countries – to experience something together. My Life, My Story will be just that – with some surprises for my fans that have been there through it all.”
