BET has unveiled the lineup of performers for the 2024 BET Awards. The ceremony, hosted by actress Taraji P. Henson, airs Sunday, June 30, at 8 p.m. ET.
As previously reported, Grammy-winning R&B artists Victoria Monét and Muni Long are set to take the stage. This isn’t either artist’s first rodeo with the BET Awards. In 2022, Monét performed “Coastin” at the BET Awards pre-show, while Long performed her hit “Hrs & Hrs” on the main stage.
Music legend Ms. Lauryn Hill, who will embark on her Miseducation Anniversary Tour this summer, will join her son, YG Marley, for a special performance. Rising amapiano star Tyla will also make her BET Awards debut.
Breakout country stars Shaboozey and Tanner Adell, who both appear on Beyoncé‘s album Cowboy Carter, will bring some twang to the stage. Per BET, Adell will perform on the BET Amplified stage.
Iconic actor, rapper, and former BET Awards host Will Smith will debut a new original song at the BET Awards. Smith’s performance will follow his latest blockbuster, Bad Boys 4: Ride or Die, co-starring Martin Lawrence, which is in theaters now.
Additionally, rap acts such as Megan Thee Stallion, Sexyy Red, Ice Spice, GloRilla, and Latto will perform.
Monét is the most-nominated R&B artist at the 2024 BET Awards, along with SZA. Her nods include Album of the Year (Jaguar II), Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, BET Her (“On My Mama”), Video of the Year (“On My Mama“) and Viewer’s Choice Award (“On My Mama”).
Long is nominated for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist and Viewer’s Choice Award (“Made For Me“).
Global superstar Usher will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the BET Awards.
Connie Orlando, BET’s executive vice president of specials, music programming and music strategy, said, “The relationship between BET and USHER spans decades, from his multiple appearances on 106 & Park, to most recently winning the Entertainer of the Year trophy at the 55th NAACP Image Awards.”
Orlando added, “From his chart-topping hits, electrifying performances, and unforgettable vocals to his signature moves and sound, USHER continues to stand on culture, setting new standards for the music industry and Black Excellence. We look forward to creating an amazing lineup to pay tribute to our global icon.”
