Rising R&B singer J. Brown’s latest single, “If You Could See You,” moves from No. 2 to No. 1 at R&B radio this week.
According to Mediabase, the Carvin Haggins-produced track received 2,073 spins, a gain of 424, for an audience impression of 6.6 million.
“Words are not able to express my gratitude to God, my loyal fans, all of the radio stations and DJs around the world playing my song, and, of course, my family and team,” J. Brown says of his chart achievement. “This is truly a dream, and I am forever grateful to all.”
“If You Could See You” is J. Brown’s second No. 1 on Mediabase’s R&B radio chart.
On Billboard, “If You Could See You” moves from No. 3 to No. 2 on the Adult R&B Airplay chart, led by Lucky Daye‘s “That’s You” for a second week.
Regarding “If You Could See You,” J. Brown shares, “I love this record because of the empowering message that it brings to women around the world.”
He continues, “It is about the outside person sharing how beautiful you are, even when you do not see yourself as beautiful. It’s about reminding that special one that they possess inner beauty.”
J. Brown previously topped both lists in 2023 with “My Whole Heart.” It spent three weeks atop Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart.
“When we created ‘My Whole Heart,’ we wanted to come up with a song that would show a woman how much she means to me,” he stated.
“It was something that we all felt was missing in R&B at the moment when we started this project. I wanted the person listening, to feel the raw emotions being delivered and I truly hope the song resonates with them.”
“If You Could See You” and “My Whole Heart” are from J. Brown’s album The Art of Making Love, released July 28, 2023, via Mocha Music/SRG-ILS Group.
The Art of Making Love also included Brown’s Kevin Ross-assisted single “Weightless.”
Brown supported his album as a special guest on October London‘s The Rebirth of Marvin Tour earlier this year.
In 2022, J. Brown released his debut album, Chapter & Verse. The album included his single “Don’t Rush” featuring Tank, which peaked at No. 7 on the Adult R&B Airplay chart.
On Aug. 25, Brown will receive a doctorate of philosophy in humanitarianism.
“This right here is most definitely the highlight of my day! And, what makes it a thousand times better, is that on top of receiving my Doctorate of Philosophy in Humanitarianism, I’ll also be receiving the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award from Leaders Esteem Christian Bible University, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris,” he wrote on Instagram.
