Chris Brown‘s single “Residuals” advances from No. 7 to No. 1 at Rhythmic radio this week.

According to Mediabase, the Prince-inspired track garnered 11.5 million audience impressions from stations reporting to that chart.

“Residuals” uncrowns 21 Savage’s “Prove It” featuring Summer Walker, which drops down to No. 4 after a one-week lead.

At Mediabase’s Rhythmic radio, “Residuals” is the R&B star’s third consecutive song from his 11:11 album cycle to reach No. 1.

Brown previously topped this airplay chart with “Sensational” in March and “Summer Too Hot” in September 2023.

The former track, featuring Davido and Lojay, is the second single from Brown’s recent album, 11:11, which was released on Nov. 10, 2023.

The lead single from the same album, “Summer Too Hot,” was co-produced by Roccstar and Gabriel Roland. This blazing track later received a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Performance at the 66th Grammy Awards.

“Residuals” is making strides on the other radio charts, tracked by Mediabase. It’s No. 3 at urban radio and No. 34 at R&B radio this week.

On Billboard, “Residuals” has reached a new peak on the Rhythmic Airplay at No. 3 this week. It also rises to No. 4 and No. 5 on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay and R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay charts, respectively.

“Residuals” is the focus track from Brown’s 11:11 (Deluxe), the repackaged edition of his 11th album, 11:11, released April 11 via RCA Records. The heart-wrenching song was produced by Eric Hudson and Blaq Tuxedo.

In an exclusive interview with Rated R&B, the latter duo revealed that “Residuals” was recorded while Brown was working on his Breezy album.

“That was the first song that kicked off the album,” Dominique Logan said. “He records a lot of songs, so it kind of got buried. We ended up doing ‘Iffy.’ We created that song the same week and he rode with that, which was a blessing.”

Brown will take the FNB Stadium stage in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Dec. 14 and Dec. 15.

The Grammy winner will then perform at Allianz Parque in São Paulo, Brazil, on Dec. 21 and Dec. 22. All shows are sold out.
