Chris Brown has another hit under his belt. His Bryson Tiller-assisted single “It Depends” secures the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s R&B Digital Songs chart in its opening week.

It tallies Brown’s eighth No. 1 on this chart, with his most recent being from his appearance on Leon Thomas‘ “Mutt (CB Remix),” released in March.

Here’s an overview of Chris Brown’s leaders on Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales chart:

  • “Ayo,” Chris Brown & Tyga, No. 1 for one week (2015)
  • “Freaky Friday,” Lil Dicky featuring Chris Brown, No. 1 for five weeks (2018)
  • “No Guidance” featuring Drake, No. 1 for five weeks (2019)
  • “Undecided,” No. 1 for one week (2019)
  • “How We Roll,” Ciara & Chris Brown, No. 1 for one week (2023)
  • “Residuals,” No. 1 for one week (2025)
  • “Mutt,” Leon Thomas & Chris Brown, No. 1 for six weeks (2025)
  • “It Depends” with Bryson Tiller, No. 1 debut (2025)

As for Tiller, “It Depends” is his second No. 1 on the R&B Digital Song Sales chart, following “Wild Thoughts” in 2017, where it led the pack for 10 weeks.

Elsewhere on Billboard, “It Depends” opens at No. 2 on R&B Streaming Songs, No. 3 on R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs, No. 5 on Hot R&B Songs, No. 9 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, No. 12 on Digital Songs and No. 26 on Streaming Songs. Further, the Usher-sampled track debuts at No. 43 on the Hot 100, earning Brown his 120th entry on the popular singles chart.

“It Depends” was released July 25 due to overwhelming demand from Brown’s fans, Team Breezy. After sharing a preview of the track on Instagram, Brown’s post garnered over 110,000 comments from fans asking for its release.

Produced by Nico Baran and RIOTUSA, “It Depends” samples Usher’s 1997 classic “Nice & Slow” from his sophomore blockbuster, My Way.

The hard-knocking track is the second single, following “Holy Blindfold,” from Brown’s upcoming album, tentatively titled BROWN. “Working on my craft everyday. I think I’m gonna name this next album #BROWN,” he wrote in an Instagram post shared on Monday (Aug. 4).

The R&B superstar released the video for “Holy Blindfold” to celebrate the kickoff of the North American leg of his Breezy Bowl XX Tour.

BROWN will follow the singer’s Grammy-winning album, 11:11 (Deluxe), released in April 2024. The expanded version of 2023’s 11:11 included the Grammy-nominated hit single “Residuals.”

The Prince-inspired track is currently nominated for Best R&B at the 2025 Video Music Awards, airing Sept. 7 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.

Tiller, who is currently on the road with Brown, will release The Vices, the first installment of his double album, Solace & The Vices, on Aug. 8 via Trapsoul/RCA Records.
