From performing at Super Bowl LIX and headlining a world tour to releasing an R&B album and a jazz album, Ledisi has been on an incredible run in 2025. Her momentum continues with two nominations at the 68th Grammy Awards.

The Grammy winner’s 16th album, The Crown, is up for Best R&B Album. It is nominated alongside Givēon‘s Beloved, Coco Jones‘ Why Not More?, Teyana Taylor‘s Escape Room and Leon Thomas‘ MUTT. It’s worth noting The Crown is the only independent album in this year’s category.

Her heartfelt ballad “Love You Too” is nominated for Best Traditional R&B Performance. The category also includes “Here We Are” by Durand Bernarr, “Uptown” by Lalah Hathaway, “Crybaby” by SZA and “Vibes Don’t Lie” by Leon Thomas.

“This has been a year of gratitude,” Ledisi reflects. “Being recognized by the Recording Academy for music I deeply believe in is truly humbling. Every performance, every note, every song has been a love letter to the people who continue to support me.”

She adds, “Along the way, I’ve had the chance to grow, to travel, and to connect with audiences in ways that remind me why I started singing… to move people. I’m proud of everything we’ve built and excited for what’s next.”

Ledisi’s two Grammy nominations bring her total to 16. She won her first Grammy for Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Anything For You” at the 2021 ceremony.

As indicated above, Ledisi released two albums this year: her soul-centric The Crown and For Dinah, her tribute to jazz and blues singer Dinah Washington. “With every album, I sing LIFE and write songs geared towards the human experience. The Crown is a metaphor for being in the spotlight and being of service to others,” explained Ledisi. “I hope people feel no matter how heavy or challenging life is we always choose to wear our crowns with grace and confidence. Always choosing love and the truth.”

Regarding her decision to pay homage to Washington, Ledisi notes, “I felt her pain, her rejection. This is where I come from — and this is my way of saying her name out loud.”
