H.E.R. put on one of the most powerful performances at the 2019 BET Awards on Sunday night. As part of the tribute to the Exonerated Five, the Grammy-winning artist honored the men with a stirring rendition of “Lord Is Coming” from her EP, I Used to Know Her: Part 2.
From her spoken-word and deeply moving vocals to the poignant rhymes from YBN’s Cordae, H.E.R. made no excuses for being unapologetically Black and living the truth of the times.
H.E.R. has a lot more in store for the culture this year. She is tapped for the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Festival. She has also put together an R&B-focused music festival dubbed Lights On. The inaugural music experience will feature new and established acts like Jhené Aiko, Lucky Daye, Daniel Caesar, Ari Lennox, and more.
