Lizzo is a whole mood. Now that “Tempo” featuring Missy Elliott is her latest single, she shares the official music video.
The Andy Hines-directed video is just what we expected for this twerk anthem — a lot of ‘throwing that ass in a circle.’ Lizzo doesn’t shake her rump alone, though. Set in a parking lot of a diner that’s named after her, the Hustlers co-star brings her curvaceous hot girls to hop on the roof of classic cars and turn up. Elliott, who is known for being outside-of-the-box, brings her creative energy into the video with some special effects.
“Tempo” is the latest single from Lizzo’s major-label debut Cuz I Love You, which dropped in April. This upbeat track has the potential to chart as high as her breakout hit “Truth Hurts” which stands at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song is her first top 10 entry on this popular singles chart.
Lizzo, who is nominated for two 2019 MTV Video Music Awards, is going back on the road this fall for the second leg of her Cuz I Love You Tour. She will be joined by special guests Ari Lennox, Empress Of, and DJ Sophia Eris on select dates.
