With Summer Walker‘s fan-favorite track “Girls Need Love” bubbling on urban radio, she taps Drake to add his melodic touch on the official remix.
In the same slow-burning vein of the original, Walker keeps her sensual vocals intact for her verses and the chorus. Drizzy, who comes in after Walker’s second verse, concurs with her feelings and flows seductively about arranging a friends with benefits agreement.
“Arched back, deep-stroke / White wine, weed smoke / That’s my best combination / You just need some dick with no complications / You just need some / You just need some late-night attention,” spits Drake in a tuneful way.
After debuting the track, Walker went to Instagram to share her thoughts on collaborating with Drake. She called the song “more than perfect” now that The Champagne Papi blessed it with his presence. Before Drake took over the official remix, Trevor Jackson flipped the song for his liking.
Earlier this month, Walker premiered “Girls Like You” in her first late-night television performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Ahead of her set, she dropped her CLEAR EP. The acoustic work followed her 2018 release Last Day of Summer.
On March 21, Walker will launch her Girls Need Love Tour in Chicago. She will perform other U.S. cities, before wrapping up on April 1 in Walker’s hometown Atlanta. She will also perform at the 2019 Sol Blume Festival later that month.
