With just a week before his sophomore album Free Spirit arrives, Khalid premieres his fourth track and it’s all about “Self.”
Before seeking advice from others to unburden himself from self-pity, the singer takes a long hard look within to trace the source of his pain. The disturbingly, beautiful backdrop fosters the tormented nature of the vulnerable record.
“I don’t need another hand, I need a couple suggestions / Always had a little trouble with self-reflections,” Khalid sings on the Hit-Boy produced track.
Besides “Self,” Khalid has shared three other tracks — “My Bad,” “Talk,” and “Better.” The last song originally appeared on his Suncity EP, which was released in October 2018. It has done incredibly well on the charts, earning Khalid his first top 10 single as a solo artist on pop radio back in February.
Free Spirit will make its digital drop on April 5 via RCA Records. Two days before the album release, a companion film to Khalid’s sophomore album will hit theaters worldwide for one night only. For ticket information and other exclusive updates, fans can visit freespiritthemovie.net.
On the performance front, Khalid will hit the stage at Coachella on April 14 and April 21. He will also play at the Beale Street Music Festival and Hangout Music Festival in May.
