Are you ready for some Ellevation?
Before releasing her oft-delayed sophomore album, Elle Varner has decided to ‘ellevate’ her fans musical spirits with a new mixtape.
Slated to arrive on July 12 via eOne Music, the nine-track project will include already released singles “Casanova,” “Loving U Blind,” “Pour Me,” and her most recent track “Kinda Love.”
Not only did Varner enlist melodic poet Wale for the mixtape, she recruited emcee Rapsody.
While she prepares for the release of Ellevation, Varner is already teasing her sophomore album. She recently told us about one standout track that she’s eager to debut.
“One of the songs I’m most excited about sounds like it literally came out of the 1980s,” she revealed exclusively to Rated R&B. “Some people call it ‘The Sade Song.’ There are no trap drums. It is analog. It is melodic. It is lyrical and I’m excited to just be like what’s good with this song.”
On July 5, Varner will serenade concertgoers on night-one of the 2019 Essence Festival. Ticket information is available here.
