Monica’s tender ballad “Commitment” has reached number one on the urban adult contemporary radio chart, according to the latest Mediabase tracking week (July 17-23).
The NOVA Wav-penned love song is Monica’s fourth hit and highest charting single on this radio format chart since “Love All Over Me” from 2010’s Still Standing. Her first top slot holder on this chart came in 1997 for the vocally-striking ballad “For You Will.”
With the gain in airplay and spins, “Commitment” is on its way to topping the Billboard Adult R&B Songs chart soon. The tune stands at No. 2 on this chart after 22 weeks.
Back in May, “Commitment” helped bag Monica her first top 10 single on the Adult R&B chart in nearly a decade.
Mo’s fourth chart topper is the lead single for her first-independent album, Chapter 38, due later this year. The liner notes for the follow-up to 2015’s Code Red will include Tank, Polow Da Don, and PJ Morton.
Chapter 38 will explore “love, joy, pain, heartbreak, redemption, and the ability to stand strong.”
