Grammy-nominated producer Greg Mitchell Jr. (GMJR) has released his debut album, Tw3nty Six // The Superfriends, via TouchDown Recordings.
Labeled his birthday album, GMJR rounded up some of his greatest musical friends including Siergio, Re’ Lxuise, Eric Dawkins, and Mel Smith, who appears on the lead single “Congratulations,” to make this 10-song body of work come to fruition.
GMJR revealed to Rated R&B what he wants his listeners to take away from the album. “I hope that everyone who hears this record enjoys this masterpiece in its entirety,” he said. “This is me and my creative thoughts as a producer. This is an opportunity and a movement I created for myself and included my musical friends to join in. This is a new musical movement. Take in the moods of each song and its details. Take in this new wave!”
GMJR, who earned his first Grammy nomination for his production support on Musiq Soulchild’s Feel the Real album, produced and composed all the songs on Tw3nty Six // The Superfriends. He not only allowed his creative roster of guest stars to perform on this amazing record, but he also granted them leeway to put their genius songwriting skills on display.
