Bridget Kelly’s new EP The Great Escape has arrived just in time for the weekend.
Bundled in five songs, including the lead track “Lucky You,” this project offers a pleasing taste of woozy R&B and summertime vibes.
Songs like “Just Playin” and “Don’t Wait” prolong the raspy inflections and enjoyable moments heard on her 2018 debut album Reality Bites. She does upgrade her sound on The Great Escape, though, latching onto the melodic trap wave.
All in all, The Great Escape is a major step for Kelly on her independent journey. The EP is the first project under her indie label, Hazmat33, which she launched in June.
