Ro James has an ace up his sleeve. The well-versed songster has revealed that his duet “Plan B” featuring Brandy will be released next Friday, May 1.
James shared the exciting news on Instagram Live on Thursday evening. He didn’t specify if the song will appear on his upcoming album.
Last May, James teased that his upcoming album is expected to mesh a “smorgasbord of sounds and feelings” that incorporate genres like “blues and rock n roll” in addition to hip-hop, reggae and gospel influences.
James’ future album will include his top 10 R&B single “Excuse Me,” which he dropped last August. The LP follows his 2018 Smoke EP and his 2016 ELDORADO debut.
“ELDORADO was my first time going to the label saying, ‘I don’t want to do this, this is who I am’ and accepting their advice too, so we can create something timeless,” James told Rated R&B last spring.
“My next album is the same process — growing with people who now are a part of your trajectory, your growth and who you are. I had a concept from the jump but the thing is finding the sound that matches the concept. It was definitely harder but I enjoyed the process.”
