Mary J. Blige can’t stop, won’t stop. The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul has shared the release date for her new thriller Body Cam. The Malik Vitthal-directed film is set to debut on digital on May 19.
Body Cam follows Blige as Renee Lomito, a LAPD veteran, who is investigating the bizarre murder of a fellow officer. While working the case, she stumbles across a malevolent spirit in their body cam footage that is torementing several officers.
Blige, who is rattled by nightmares of the event, discovers the mysterious figure is connected to the murder and cover up of a black youth at the hands of two white cops.
Nat Wolff and David Zayas also star in the intense action thriller written by Richmond Riedel.
According to hit producer Chucky Thompson, Body Cam is expected to feature new music from Blige. He exclusively told Rated R&B in August 2019 that he produced the score “Can’t Be Life” for the film.
Blige, who has at least two albums in the works, is busy in the acting world. She is set to star in Power spin-off and The Violent Heart. She recently made an animated appearance as Queen Essence in Dreamworks’ Trolls World Tour.
