R&B virtuosos Kem and Toni Braxton have joined forces for a buttery duet titled “Live Out Your Love.”
Over a soothing instrumental, co-produced with Derek “D.O.A.” Allen, Kem and Toni sing about an everlasting love that seems to get better by the day.
“The little things you do to me / Now I can see / You were made in heaven just for me,” Kem sings in the first verse. Braxton echoes his sentiments with her airy vocals, “Boy you got the magic touch / I’m in love again.”
Kem revealed his collaboration with Braxton was sparked in 2019 when he was invited to perform at her Valentine’s Day concert in his hometown Detroit. “My wife and I went to Toni’s show at the Fox Theatre,” Kem recalls. “She called me up on stage to sing with her and it was an incredible moment.”
When it was time to record “Live Out Your Love,” Kem thought he could take the song to another level as a duet — and Braxton was the perfect fit. “I loved the way she recorded, the texture of her voice,” he says. “The pairing of our voices was just amazing.”
“Live Out Your Love” is the follow-up to Kem’s hit “Lie to Me,” which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Adult R&B Songs chart. Both songs will appear on Kem’s forthcoming album, Love Always Wins, which drops on August 28 via Motown Records.
As for Braxton, she has recently seen success on the charts with her latest single “Do It.” The tender ballad became Braxton’s 18th top 10 single on the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart in May. Last month, she shared an updated version with a guest appearance from Missy Elliott.
