Can you spell a number one hit? Toni Braxton can since her current single “Do It” has now peaked to No. 1 on the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart for the August 15 tracking week.
By unseating her duet partner Kem and his bonafide hit “Lie to Me,” the living legend is adorned with her ninth chart-topper on the respective chart. It’s also her first number one hit since 2018’s Grammy-nominated “Long As I Live.”
The chart outcome for “Do It” was already destined, as it soared to the top spot on the urban adult contemporary (urban AC) radio format over the weekend.
Taken from her forthcoming album Spell My Name, which is due out August 28 via Island Records, “Do It” is a strong contender in the R&B field at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards.
Braxton recently dropped an upbeat breakup anthem “Dance,” which has received a warm response from fans. She also issued the accompanying visual.
Congratulations, Toni Braxton.
